Partnerships

Partnership working is central to Parable Dance. We believe that inclusive practice grows stronger when organisations share ideas, pool expertise and create space for artists to work together. Collaboration enables us to reach more people, push creative boundaries and contribute to a more accessible dance sector.

Examples of past collaborations:

  • We created Inclusive Practice is Good Practice, a national resource film featuring 42 of the UK’s leading inclusive dance artists and companies. This was followed by a university tour of panel discussions and Q&As, giving students the opportunity to hear directly from artists shaping the field.

  • We partnered with DanceSyndrome and Down for Dance (USA) on a five-month online choreographic project, connecting dancers and broadening opportunities for shared learning and creative exchange.

Get in touch if you would like to discuss partnership working. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with organisations who are committed to inclusive practice and to creating dance spaces where everyone can thrive.

Partners

South East Dance

Parable Dance is proud to be a key partner of South East Dance. South East Dance supports our classes and holiday clubs by providing a home at The Dance Space, their state-of-the-art, fully accessible building in the heart of Brighton. Being based in this vibrant hub of community and professional dance enriches every aspect of our work and the experiences we offer participants. We’re incredibly grateful for the support South East Dance has given us since we formed in 2019, and we’re proud to share a vision of what a truly accessible and welcoming dance environment can be.

National Youth Ballet

Parable Dance has been a long-term partner of National Youth Ballet (NYB), making ballet more accessible for dancers of all abilities through the ‘All In!’ initiative. This multi-strand partnership combines inclusive performance, training, and teacher development.

Highlights include:

  • Creation of inclusive ballet professional development and guidance materials for educators.

  • Collaborative performances of Romeo and Juliet with Parable youth and NYB dancers, showcased at The Dance Space and Sadler’s Wells.

  • Summer ballet intensives and termly inclusive classes in Brighton.

  • Development of young dance leaders with disabilities on the teaching team.

NYB All In! challenges long-held assumptions about who ballet is for. By combining Parable’s expertise in inclusive dance with NYB’s ballet tradition, we’re building a more inclusive talent pipeline, offering real pathways to dance for people often excluded from classical ballet. This partnership shows that ballet doesn’t have to look one way. It can be for everyone.

Brighton & Hove Council

Parable Dance is commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council to deliver specialist inclusive dance provision through the city’s SEND Short Breaks programme, providing high-quality holiday activities for disabled children and young people. In addition, Parable is recognised by the council as a centre for Alternative Provision, supporting children and young people with SEND who experience Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) to re-engage with learning through creative movement. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to inclusion, supporting SEND families and early intervention to improve outcomes for some of the city’s most marginalised young people. We use dance as a powerful tool for wellbeing, belonging and personal development.
